GOOD SHEPHERD CENTRAL SCHOOL
INTRODUCTION
GOOD SHEPHERD CENTRAL SCHOOL started blooming for the academic year 2022-23 on 18th April 2022 with 126 little buds, 13 Guiding stars and 2 supporting staff. We have always been committed to create an environment in the school which helps the young minds to blossom and provide a platform for individual thinking and holistic development of the child’s personality. We set standards and goals for ourselves and strive to achieve them.
ACADEMICS

We began our journey with the Bridge course for the first two weeks to mold the student’s transition from the previous grade to the next grade by developing their academic skills. Regular classes were resumed from 15th June 2022. Excellence in education and Perfection in performance is the hallmark of GSCS. To prove that we are providing the best curriculum with advanced teaching strategies by the well trained teachers to enlighten the knowledge of the blooming buds with stress-free academic module which makes the learning smarter and easier to pursue a bright future.
To ensure that the students develop their academic skills, our school has taken various initiatives throughout the year. Reading and Handwriting Practice, Communication Classes were conducted every week to develop their LSRW skills. Special Library period was allotted once in a week to motivate the children to read as it is the gateway of gaining more knowledge. Learning is achieved through experience and collaborative activities that provide students with a long-lasting gap on the essentials. Students acquired knowledge through education oriented Projects/ Assignments/ Activities which could develop their creativity, curiosity by learning.
We evaluated the children by conducting Slip tests, Periodic Assessments and Terminal Examinations to appraise Children’s knowledge and understanding. We analyzed the Assessment Report and identified the weak students for whom the Remedial measures were taken in a regular basis. Special attention and constant care made them to obtain great results.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
“The quality of school life is determined by its activities”
Arts in education program encourages students to explore and express themselves by giving positive recognition for their artistic efforts. Our school truly believes that physical as well as mental activities play a vital role in building a bright future of the children. Various Co – Curricular Activities are held to develop a child physically, morally, socially and mentally and to hone skills in co-scholastic areas, regular Inter House Activities were held in which the students participated and display their caliber. We provide the Extra-curricular activities such as Skating, Western Dance, Classical Dance, Art & Craft, Spoken English & Hindi, Computer Course by the best trainers to grow their personality.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
Educational field trips:
To explore and expand the young minds, our graders were taken to Eco park, Pazhathotam & Vattakottai on 28th September 2022 as well as Kindergarteners have visited Udhayagiri fort & fruit stall on 11th November 2022. It was a blissful moment and we were making memories outside the classroom
Trip to Bank:
To gain knowledge about Banking, we organized a trip to Tamilnadu Mercantile Bank, Agastheeswaram Branch on 18th March 2023 and a seminar on filling chellans & withdrawal cheques by Bank officials.It widened the knowledge of current banking system.
Visit to Vermicompost farm:
Our school set up a visit to vermicompost farm on 6th December 2022. It was an enriching experience to the children that they could explore and gather information through a process of enquiry in a dynamic way ably facilitated by our teachers.
Movie:
As per the Government order, we have displayed a short movie “ Karunai Illam “ in our school on 6th March 2023.
Magic Show:
To provide the children some refreshment, our school organized a Magic Show on 7th December 2022.
Eye Screening Camp:
To spread awareness on eye disorders a free Eye Screening Camp was conducted by Vasan Eye Care Clinic on 26th August 2022.
Assembly:
The assembly is a great way to bring the school together and a key for unlocking opportunities. GSCS had its morning assembly in every week of Wednesdays done by house – wise. The assembly in our school begins with a prayer song. Our students read out quotations, deliver speeches or enact a role play on the given time. The assembly concludes with National Anthem.
Gardening:
To cultivate the thought of GREEN ENVIRONMENT, GSCS had its gardening program on 8th March 2023. Our students brought saplings/seeds to school and planted with their own hands. They enjoyed a lot. By seeing the plant germinates from the seeds that they have planted, they were much excited and empowered.
SCHOOL HOUSES
“Strength does not come from physical capacity, it comes from unity”
To promote unity and discipline, our students were divided into four houses: Shakespeare, Dickens, Wordsworth, and Keats. Each house was led by a House In-charge and House Captain, responsible for conducting activities and competitions in a systematic manner.
CELEBRATIONS
“Life is meant to be lived as a celebration”
GSCS organized various cultural events to bring out the hidden talents of our little stars to the light.
Seasons Day was observed on 29th June 2022. Students were engaged and enlightened with various Theme based activities related to the seasons and learnt the different types of seasons.
GSCS celebrated 75th Independence Day on 13th August 2022 on the motto of “To remember our Warriors”. Our Kindergarteners were attired themselves as freedom fighters and made everyone realized the sacrifice of our freedom fighters.
To honour the teachers for their accomplishments, efforts and contribution to society as well as to the lives of their students Our board celebrated Teacher’s Day on 5th September 2022 on the motto of “To honour our Teachers”. Students pleased the teachers with their marvelous cultural performances and gifts.
The school should create an atmosphere of peace and brotherhood environment. To emphasis that, Onam was celebrated on 6th September 2022 with beautiful ‘Aththapoo kolam’
Children’s Day was celebrated on 14th November 2022 to shower love and affection towards children. Cultural performance was given by our teachers and various games were conducted to entertain the children
Christmas Day is a time to gather with loved ones and friends, exchange gifts, enjoy wonderful food, and spend quality time together, in order to give the happiness, our school celebrated Christmas Day on 22nd December 2022. Making cribs, Santa Dance, Carols, Christmas Nativity Play were the highlights of the day.
Graduation Day:
“The best way of predict the future is to create it”
To celebrate the progress and development of students, Our Senior Kindergarten students celebrated Graduation Day on 15th April 2023. Esteemed officials presented certificates to our little graduates, acknowledging their accomplishments. Our honorable Chairman congratulated the graduates, while juniors shared their heartfelt wishes. It was a memorable day filled with pride and anticipation for the bright futures that lie ahead.
We captivated the audience with a recap of the academic journey through a special video and heartwarming documentary showcasing the growth and achievements of each student. The emotional impact on parents was profound, as they were touched and moved by the memories shared. It was an unforgettable experience for the little ones and their families, creating cherished moments that will be treasured for a lifetime.
SPORTS
“A healthy mind resides in a healthy body”
Ample opportunities were provided to our children to play and prove their mettle in various events. As the school lays a strong emphasis on physical activities, it not only keeps the children fit but also helps them relieve from pressure to excel in studies.
Our first Annual Sports Buzz was celebrated on 21st January 2023. March Past was done by House wise. Several sports competitions were conducted and Certificates & Prizes were distributed to all the Winners. Overall Trophy was given to Shakespeare House for their outstanding score.
COMPETITIONS
“If you’re a true warrior, Competition doesn’t scare you. It makes you better”
By providing a conducive and encouraging environment, the students are motivated to participate in a variety of competitions as it enhances our students to face the eventual competitive world. GSCS conducted various competitions such as Dance, Solo song, Best out of waste, Spell-O-Pedia, Poster making, Greeting card making, Fancy Dress, Clay Modeling etc to cultivate their creativity. Our children accept the challenges and showcased their talents. The winners were awarded with Certificates and Prizes.
PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION
PTA provides parent and teachers a mutual platform to work for the betterment of the school, teaching and everything that influences the physical and intellectual growth of a child. It was an opportunity to share the child’s academic progress, observations and Assessments. Every Periodic Assessments and Terminal Exams records of the students were updated to the parents on a regular basis
CONCLUSION
Many milestones have been achieved and many still have to be reached. We at GOOD SHEPHERED CENTRAL SCHOOL will continue our unceasing efforts to mold the young minds into well balanced personalities with confidence and zeal befitting the standards of this portal of education.
The academic year 2022-23 at Good Shepherd Central School was filled with remarkable achievements and significant milestones. Our unwavering commitment to molding young minds into well-rounded individuals, fostering confidence and enthusiasm, remains steadfast in alignment with our educational standards. As we continue our pursuit of excellence, we instill in our students the belief that the sky is not the limit when there are footprints on the moon.
We take immense pride in the accomplishments of our students, a testament to the dedication and hard work of our staff. Our focus remains on their holistic development, equipping them with the necessary tools and opportunities to excel in all aspects of their lives.
